James is a filmmaker based in Los Angeles by way of Ocean City, Maryland. His love of skateboarding and music cemented a deep interest in film while still in middle school in the late 90’s, producing scrappy skate videos and shorts using two VCR’s and a camcorder.

After eight years pursuing a professional career in music as a drummer and songwriter James traveled west in 2007 to re-focus on his first love, the moving image.

In addition to producing branded and editorial online video content as Head of Video at Evolve Media in Los Angeles, James has worked in many capacities in the production space over the last six years strengthening a wholistic approach to filmmaking. Notable work includes the 30-minute MTV concert special Rooney: Live at Teragram Ballroom (director), independent feature film Lockhart: Unleashing The Talisman (assistant editor) and narrative comedy You Got The Part (director of photography).

James studied cultural anthropology at Santa Monica College and continues his passion in exploring what it means to be a human in society with his most recent project, the documentary short For Your Consideration which tackles the collision of art, conventional and social media and social change in Hollywood as well as the world.
